4/5 ⭐. Legends & Lattes was honestly the perfect, lighthearted book to get me through a slow flight from St. Louis to NYC.

Spoiler Alert! Alright, I’m going to start with saying that I’ve never played DnD (Dungeons & Dragons) before. However, I am a pretty big fan of the show The Legend of Vox Machina and after reading the raving Google reviews I had to grab a copy at my favorite STL bookstore Left Bank Books for the plane ride home.
There’s definitely a slight learning curve in understanding all the different creatures in this realm – like I had no idea what an orc was for a good 50 pages. Once you get down the context, the book is heart warming read about Viv, a girl who just wants to leave behind a life of gore and battle for a new, more peaceful path. She’s an orc that fell in love with the gnomish creation of “coffee” – something I’m sure many of us can relate to – and has dreams of creating her own cafe where everyone can leisurely enjoy life with a hot latte!
Travis Baldree’s charming writing made me pause and enjoy the little things this past week. 2023 has been a rollercoaster and this book helped me more than any of the self help books I’ve read! I’m also a binge reader and the sequel Bookshops & Bonedust just came out so I had to immediately get it…😅. Stay tuned for my next review!
P.S. Legends & Lattes is currently on sale for only $5.99 at Book Outlet!
